I started by looking at foxbodies on Copart. I bid on a couple, and the auto bid went up above me on both of them. I started thinking about the logistics of taking a day off, getting a truck and trailer (thanks for the offers Matt and Joe!), driving round trip, trying to get a car unloaded that may not roll, etc. Anyway, decided to ditch Copart after about 2 months of no good score.
Got on craigslist and found this beauty:
It was nearby. Had lots of performance parts, but looked like it was chopped and hacked a bit. The guy selling this had planned to switch it to a carb add nitrous and use it as a track car. He had some other projects and needed the cash to fix a broken tranny on a beautiful 1966 Mustang. We agreed he would move it this to my place for the asking price. I think we both got a pretty good deal. This was less than Copart cars of the same era that had been stopped by concrete walls, and I didn't have to waste a day getting it home.
I have always loved fox bodies, and I found myself feeling the urge to just sell the Focus and just have this. Close up though it isn't that complete of a car. The interior is shot and missing pieces, the doors sag, it had a quicky repaint with overspray everywhere, nothing on it is that straight. This would be an epic resto job with much money lost. If I want a nice fox body this ain't it. I am still not sure how to make this car go away once I have what I need from it, but I don't think that is unsolvable. CL beckons...
